Chicago-based establishment Amity Packing Company is recalling 2,020 lbs. of raw ground beef products due to possible plastic contamination, according to USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service.
The products subject to recall were 1-lb. vacuum packages containing 95 percent lean/5 percent fat ground beef and were produced on Jan. 6.
Products were shipped to retail locations in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Two separate consumers complained of finding clear, thin plastic in the beef.
Some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers and should be thrown away or returned.
