Chicago-based Conagra Brands will be building a snacking innovation center next to the company’s headquarters.
The center will be 40,000 square feet and will focus on innovation related to snack foods, which the company says is one of the fastest-growing food trends.
The company sold $2 billion worth of snacks last year, including meat items Slim Jim and Duke’s Shorty Sausages.
The new facility will be utilized for designing on-trend products. “Our strong snacking portfolio is positioned for long-term growth and we expect the capabilities in this new facility to enable us to create even more innovative products that our consumers will love,” said Tom McGough, executive vice president and co-chief operating officer for Conagra Brands.
The center will open in 2020 and will house up to 50 employees.
