The 36th annual Governor’s Charity Steer Show and auction, held Aug. 11 during the Iowa State Fair, set a new record, raising over $294,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa and will benefit the houses in Des Moines, Iowa City, and Sioux City.
The Iowa Beef Industry Council and the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association sponsor the annual steer show and auction, which was hosted this year by Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds. The show features steers raised by Iowa youth and shown by local celebrities, elected officials and business leaders, including Reynolds and Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Naig.
Since its inception in 1983, the Governor’s Charity Steer Show has raised over $3.5 million for the Ronald McDonald Houses of Iowa.
