Beef Bits Brief: Cattle escape from MO plant

The Blue Springs, MO, Police Department announced three steers were on the loose after being taken to the Valley Oaks Meats processing plant.

Police received the call on Oct. 13 shortly before 12:45 p.m. as the cattle were making their way down Main Street and through residential and business districts.

Police and Valley Oaks personnel were able to trailer one of the steers, but the other two had to be euthanized after one turned aggressive and the other was making its way along Missouri Route 7 and toward Interstate 70.

“Unfortunately, after exhausting all options, two of the steers had to be euthanized to ensure the safety of residents and property,” police said in a release. “All precautions were taken to ensure these actions were done as safely as possible.”
