The Beyond Burger, a plant-based product from the U.S. company, Beyond Meat, is now available in Tesco supermarkets across the United Kingdom (UK).
The product was originally set to debut in Tesco markets in August, but the launch was delayed due to demand in the U.S. that caused supply issues.
The product will be stocked in the chilled meat aisle alongside conventional fresh meat in more than 350 branches of the UK’s largest supermarket, a move the company said it hopes will “help people on their journey to eating more plant-based by allowing them to purchase plant-based foods in the section of the store where they are already purchasing other forms of protein.”
Tesco’s Prepared Foods Selling Manager, Martyn Doble, said: “The Beyond Burger has been one of the most eagerly anticipated food launches of the year and we believe that this fantastic-tasting patty will be a real game changer for anyone considering going vegan or trying a flexitarian diet.”
