The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) elected new officers at their virtual Strategic Planning Conference held in mid-November. Pat Binger was elected the new chairman, succeeding Idaho cattle feeder Cevin Jones. Binger leads international meat sales for Cargill Protein North America and is based in Wichita, KS.
Mark Swanson, CEO of Birko Corporation, is USMEF’s new chair-elect. Dean Meyer, a corn, soybean and livestock producer from Rock Rapids, IA, will serve as vice chair. Randy Spronk of Edgerton, MN, will serve as secretary-treasurer.
USMEF also presented its 2020 Distinguished Service Award to Richard Wortham, executive vice president of the Texas Beef Council, and the Michael J. Mansfield Award to Bomer Lauritsen, trade policy consultant at Ag Trade Strategies, LLC.
