The University of California (UC) Cooperative Extension (UCCE) recently announced that Dr. Rosie Busch has joined UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine as the specialist in sheep and goat herd health and production.
Busch fills the role left open for 20 years since Dr. John Glenn’s retirement. “I am passionate about developing evidence-based, practical resources that are accessible to the public,” she said in the UCCE announcement of her appointment.
“While there is incredible potential for meaningful translational research in small ruminant health to come out of this program, I intend to develop this program by listening to you and understanding the challenges you face while raising small ruminants.”
California has the second largest population of sheep in the U.S. with an estimated 550,000 head, roughly 10.5 percent of the nation’s flock.
