The National Western Stock Show (NWSS) announced Jan. 14 that its growing art collection is getting a new, permanent home with a recently announced donation.
The new gallery will be called the J. Robert and Katherine Wilson Art Gallery, and it will be located on the first floor of the Legacy Building at the new National Western Center.
The 4,466-square-foot space will allow the public to view the full National Western Permanent Collection year-round.
The Wilsons have been involved with both the Colorado community and the NWSS for many years now.
J Robert “Bob” Wilson is the president and owner of the Fort Collins, CO-based senior care group Columbine Health Systems, and his wife Katherine “Kitty” Wilson is an accomplished equestrian who often competes at the NWSS, according to the announcement.
The gift came from the Wilsons’ desire to preserve the Western legacy, support Western art, and help ensure the long-term success of the National Western Center.
“This is a terrific gift, one that’s enabling one of the Legacy Building’s most significant attractions,” said Pete Coors, who chairs the Honoring the Legacy campaign for the new National Western Center.
