The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association (ICA) has named the Euken-Myers family from Cass County as the 2020 Iowa Environmental Stewardship Program award winner.
The family has implemented climate change mitigation efforts on their farm, including reducing emissions and sequestering carbon.
The farm has improved its grain-drying systems and reduced tillage, and has increased yields to reduce emissions.
By using cover crops, minimum tillage, and manure application, the farm has been able to increase soil organic matter and increase the land’s ability to store carbon.
Regional winners for the national award will be announced in late July.
