Awards Arena: Gelbvieh elects leaders, hall of fame inductee

The AGA elected directors and officers for 2020 during its national convention in Billings

The American Gelbvieh Association (AGA) elected five candidates to the board of directors during its annual convention, held Dec. 6, 2019 in Billings, MT.

New board members are Mark Covington of Montrose, CO, and Tom Vehige of Billings, MO.

Three other board members were reelected to serve a second term. They are: John Carrel of Columbus, MT; Leland Clark of Barnard, KS; and Klint Sickler of Gladstone, ND. At the same event, Jim Thomas of O Lazy Y Ranch in Guthrie, OK was inducted into the AGA Hall of Fame for 2020.

The AGA Hall of Fame recognizes people for their contribution to the growth and development of the Gelbvieh breed.

Thomas was one of the first breeders to show Gelbvieh at the National Western Stock Show in the 1970s.
