Former American Simmental Association (ASA) chairmen Gordon Hodges, Hamptonville, NC; Steve Reimer, Chamberlain, SD; and Fred Schuetze, Granbury, TX recently received the 2021 Golden Book Award.
The award recognizes those who have made significant contributions to the Simmental/Simbrah breeds. It is the most prestigious award given by ASA and is given on behalf of the World Simmental Fleckvieh Federation.

Hodges has been a lifelong promoter of Simmental genetics and is now completing his 13th year on the board of trustees, and previously served as board chairman. He was a large supporter in establishing the International Genetics Solutions. Hodges operates his own Simmental herd at Pineview Farms and serves as the genetic and marketing manager for Gibbs Farms.

Reimer operates a performance-based herd of Simmental females, R&R Cattle Company, with his father. Reimer has served six years on the ASA board of directors, including as board chairman. He helped plan the innovative FOCUS 2000 Conference that helped bring the commercial cattle industry market share back to Simmental.
Schuetze is a managing partner of Simmentals of Texas and has been a vocal leader for the beef industry. He has served as an ASA trustee, as well as board chair and ASA’s official representative to the World Simmental Fleckvieh Federation. He is currently serving as president for the association and has served as president for the Texas Simmental/Simbrah Association.
