The American Gelbvieh Association (AGA) has hired Lindsay Upperman as performance programs coordinator and Laura Handke as Gelbvieh World editor.

Upperman will help coordinate member education and breed improvement efforts, as well as travel the country to visit Gelbvieh and Balancer stakeholders. She is originally from Chambersburg, PA, and graduated from Kansas State University and University of California-Davis, with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, respectively. Upperman is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a focus on the estimation of genetic parameters for days-to-finish traits in beef cattle.

Handke will help create and coordinate content for the Gelbvieh World and the Profit Picture publications. She lives in Easton, KS, with her husband and 8-year-old daughter, where they run a small herd of commercial cattle. Handke holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in agriculture science from Northwest Missouri State University.
