The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) has named Dr. Eleanor Green, the Carl B. King Dean of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University (TAMU), as the recipient of the 2020 AAVMC Billy E. Hooper Award for Distinguished Service.
The award was sponsored by the Stanton Foundation.
This award is presented to an individual whose leadership and vision has made a significant contribution to academic veterinary medicine and the veterinary profession, according to an AAVMC press release.
Green became dean at TAMU in 2009 and oversaw many projects such as the construction of the Veterinary and Biomedical Education Complex, and establishment of the Center for Educational Technologies, Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Global One Health, and Equine Initiatives.
She also developed partnerships to help increase the number of DVM graduates and address issues facing animal and rural practice veterinary vet medicine in Texas.
The award will be presented during AAVMC’s annual conference in March in Washington, D.C.
