ASPCA exec claims firing from whistleblowing

Former Chief Financial Officer Gordon Lavalette is suing the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), alleging he was fired after exposing unethical and illegal financial practices.

Lavalette claims he was wrongfully fired on May 12 in retaliation for objecting to conduct that he believed violated laws and regulations. Lavalette alleges ASPCA mismanaged millions of dollars of donor money, committed common law fraud upon donors and put animals’ health and safety at risk.

In the suit, Lavalette demands a trial by jury and relief for economic and compensatory damages.
