More than 50 agricultural industry groups penned a letter to Congress in mid-January, expressing concern over economic threats facing rural America.
“An alarming number of farmers are financially underwater, farm bankruptcies continue to climb, and many farmers may have difficulty securing financing to grow their next crop,” the letter read.
The groups urge Congress to provide additional economic support for field and specialty crop farmers.
The letter was signed by the American Farm Bureau Federation, alongside other commodity groups.
