The Biden administration has joined with private and public sector partners, including the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, to announce over $153 million in grant funding for conservation projects through the America the Beautiful Challenge.
The 74 grants announced were made possible through the administration’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, other federal conservation programs and private sources for a total of $153 million.
The grants will enable Tribes, states and other grantees to encourage the development of landscape-level projects that benefit wildlife and conservation to disadvantaged communities. The Department of the Interior (DOI) said approximately 40% of the grants will be awarded to Tribes for projects that incorporate Indigenous knowledge in planning and implementation.
“Nature is essential to the health, well-being and prosperity of every community in America,” said DOI Secretary Deb Haaland. “Through the President’s Investing in America agenda, we have the historic opportunity to invest in locally led, collaborative efforts that can help combat the impacts of climate change, advance environmental justice, and safeguard the lands and waters we all love.”
