As wildfires rage across the West, members of the Bipartisan Wildfire Caucus held a press briefing earlier this month on efforts being made and those needed to fight wildfires.

In early June, members of the Congressional Western Caucus, California congressional representatives and staff members met in Santa Barbara, CA, hearing from community leaders on issues from drought and wildfire prevention to agriculture and energy independence.
Speaking at a news conference earlier this month, Department of the Interior Secretary Deb Haaland stated, “I’m here to listen. I’m here to learn,” after touring the Butler Wash Ruins Overlook in Bears Ears National Monument. Haaland met with stakeholders to determine restoring the original park’s boundaries, along with those of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
The Bipartisan Wildfire Caucus will advocate for wildfire-related programs, including funding for disaster relief, prevention, and mitigation; and highlight balanced and bipartisan science-based wildfire management and mitigation proposals.
