Tour members stand outside one of the ranch buildings on the Ox Bow Ranch, listening to Ranch Manager Marc Orem talk about the history of the ranch and the herd.
The ranch can be dated back to 1882 via water rights. The ranch was purchased by Harlan J. Herrin in 1899. In the mid-1930s, it was purchased again by Irvin Reike. Most of the white stucco buildings, like the one seen here, were built during Reike's ownership.
In the 1960s, Reike sold the ranch to Dr. AJ Kafka. In 1978, Montana Governor Tim Babcock purchased the ranch. Next to own it was Chris and Nora Hohenlohe in 1990. It was sold again to Dave Cote in 2016.
