Ranchers east of Hermosa, SD, scrambled following the Atlas Blizzard to get all live cattle located and moved home and/or to dry ground. Some producers lost well over 50 percent of their cows, and one area rancher lost all his saddle horses that were tucked behind a barn on a feeder. Efforts are ongoing to locate missing cattle and care for those found alive in addition to removing the dead from roads, bar ditches and fence lines. Photo by Heather (Hamilton) Maude.
